Tonight’s Prayer Meetings for both the elders and the church are cancelled due to the weather. Stay warm!
New City Catechism Question 18
Will God allow our disobedience and idolatry to go unpunished?
No, every sin is against the sovereignty, holiness, and goodness of God, and against his righteous law, and God is righteously angry with our sins and will punish them in his just judgment both in this life, and in the life to come.
Charles Spurgeon wrote that were God to not punish the wicked then the innocent would bear the offences of sin. There are two meanings here. First of all, we understand that it isn’t just for innocent people to be wronged and for the guilty to go unpunished. Secondly, when we consider our own sinful selves, we glory in the mystery of the cross whereby our innocent Saviour bore our offences and satisfied the justice of God.
